These sites offer free English grammar and spelling checkers. Support may or not be available.
Spellchecker.net — This online service checks spelling, grammar, and also offers a thesaurus. Just enter your text into the box and hit “submit.” A paid version is also available.
AbiWord — This is a free word-processing program that is compatible with other popular word-processors.
Language Tool — An open-source tool that checks grammar in several languages (does not check spelling, however). There is a stand-alone version and also one that integrates into OpenOffice.org.
Grammar Slammer – Trial version is free for 21 days and then costs $49 afterwords.ProofReadBot — Free online grammar checker.
